Precision tube assemblies for heavy-duty, off-road, industrial, agricultural, marine, and recreational equipment builders

TEC (The Expandit Company) is an ISO 9001:2015 certified contract manufacturer of CNC-bent tube and fabricated tube assemblies. Since 1996 we have built production-ready components to customer prints for OEMs across heavy-duty, off-road, industrial, agricultural, marine, and recreational equipment. We hold ±1° on bend angle and ±1/16" on length, run 1" through 6" IPS Schedule 80 carbon steel, and take the short runs other shops turn down, with no minimums and no rush fees.

ISO 9001:2015 is Just the Beginning

As a certified ISO 9001:2015 OEM supplier, TEC views quality control as critical to ensuring our products meet all required standards and specifications. To do this, we build monitoring and inspections into our processes literally every step of the way.

Common Questions from OEM Buyers

What tolerances can TEC hold on CNC tube bending?

TEC holds ±1 degree on bend angle and ±1/16 inch on length. Standard bend quality also includes ovality not greater than 7% for mandrel bending, wall thinning under 12.5% on 3XD bends, and wrinkle-free bends across the range.

Does TEC accept short-run and prototype orders?

Yes. TEC takes the low-volume runs many shops turn down, with no minimums and no rush fees. Prototype work is manufactured to the customer's own prints, and the same process controls apply whether the order is five parts or five hundred.

What tube sizes and materials can TEC bend?

CNC mandrel bending runs 1 inch through 6 inch IPS Schedule 80 carbon steel pipe. Stainless is supported across much of the size range, and fabrication extends to 12 inch diameter. Published bend specifications list centerline radius, wall thickness, and stainless compatibility for every diameter.

Is TEC ISO certified?

TEC is a certified ISO 9001:2015 supplier. Material control, fabrication, inspection, and documentation follow a defined process on every order, which means what ships matches what was quoted and approve

Where is TEC located, and can it supply national OEM accounts?

TEC operates from Winterset, Iowa, with multiple Iowa facilities for redundancy and disaster recovery, and supplies OEM accounts nationally. TEC uses US-produced steel exclusively, which matters for buyers working through domestic sourcing and supply chain resilience requirements.

Which industries does TEC build for?

Heavy-duty, off-road, industrial, agricultural, marine, and recreational equipment manufacturers. Typical parts include exhaust components, radiator pipes, coolant lines, charge air cooler tubes, and fabricated tube assemblies.

How fast can TEC turn around an order?

TEC completes most jobs the same day or the next. Lead times extend with the complexity of the job, and TEC tells you up front when a part will take longer rather than letting a date slip quietly.
